John Michael Salamone, 77
John Michael Salamone, 77 of Royersford, passed away, surrounded by family at Phoenixville hospital on July 22, 2024. He was the loving husband of Marybeth (Sweinhart) Salamone and son of Ross Salamone & Helen (Carty) Salamone. Born in Lock Haven Pennsylvania, John graduated Lockhaven State College, West Chester University, and Lehigh University. He was a proud member of the Lock Haven Chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon where he served as past President. He began teaching in 1969 at Spring Ford High School, teaching American History & Government. He was past president of Spring Ford Teachers’ Union. John was also member of the Masonic Lodge of Royersford as well as a life long member of Grace Lutheran Church of Royersford. John was a proud Democrat, and served as Mayor of Royersford for 12 years. He lived his entire life loving and making his family his top priority. He enjoyed lounging by his pool with a good book and hot cup of coffee, or sitting on the beach relaxing. He was also a never wavering Philadelphia Phillies fan.
John is survived by his wife Marybeth, son Dr. Andrew Salamone, husband of Alissa (McGrath) Salamone, daughter, Pier (Salamone) Reiter, wife of Travis Reiter, son, Michael Salamone, husband of Amanda (Jacobs) Salamone, brother in law Robert Sweinhart, husband of Martha (Clary) Sweinhart and his brother William Salamone of Reno, Nevada. Also surviving John are his 6 beloved grandchildren, Michael, Grayson, Penelope, Paisley, Orion & Griffin and his very treasured nieces and nephews.
Visitation of family and friends will take place Friday, August 2, 2024 from 3:30-6:00pm at Grace Lutheran Church, 594 Church St #1, Royersford, PA 19468. A memorial service will be held directly after the viewing. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Penn Medicine Abramson Cancer Center (https://www.pennmedicine.org/cancer/giving ) All arrangements are being handled by Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home.
