Obituary of Jim Yeager

Please share a memory of Jim to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

James  E. Yeager, 74,

James Yeager, 74,  husband to Betty (Carter) Yeager passed away Friday September 16, 2022 in Philadelphia Penn Presbyterian Hospital. A survivor from the beginning, Jim was born a preemie in Philadelphia on November 20, 1947 to the late Evans and Grace (Keen) Yeager.  One of two children, Jim spent his entire life in the Spring Ford area.  He was a graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School and later went on to get his degree in Education from North Carolina State University, where he met and fell in love with his wife, Betty.  Together, Jim and Betty moved back to PA where they raised two daughters.

Jim retired from the Boyertown School District from teaching Woodshop/Industrial Arts and Computer Science for many years.  He loved wood working, electronics and was an excellent carpenter.  He enjoyed teaching and was inspired by his students.  After retirement, Jim could still be found in his wood shop working on a new project or in front of his computer creating some new graphic design.

Jim and Betty loved to entertain.  He was the life of a party and enjoyed creating a space to enjoy family and friends.  He and Betty loved to play cards, host pig roasts and have parties in the “Den of Iniquity”. Jim also loved spending time in his home in Strathmere, NJ.  He was an avid fisherman and loved cooking for his family.

Affectionately known as “Pop Pop” and “Uncle Jim”, he adored his grandchildren and extended family of niece and nephews.  He was so proud of his grandchildren.  They were truly the highlight of his life.

Jim leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Betty; two daughters:  Keena Barth (Colby Barth) and Carla Grosser (Brendan Conner); five grandchildren:  Solomon and Grace Barth, Travis and Cole Grosser and Elijah Conner; his sister:  Judy Parfitt; many nieces and nephews and beloved dog, Rizzo.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Shalkop, Grace & Strunk Funeral home on October 1, 2022 at 11:30 AM.  Visitation will be held prior from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at the Funeral Home followed by the service and a reception for immediate friends and family.  In lieu of flowers, a donation in Jim’s honor to a charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated.
