Obituary of Ruth H Shantz

Ruth H. Haldeman Shantz, 92, passed away at Manatawny Manor on Saturday, January 1, 2011.
She was the widow of Henry Thornton Shantz to whom she was married for 43 years.
Born in Spring City, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mae (Smith) Haldeman.
Mrs. Shantz was born, married and lived in the same house until she moved to Manatawny Manor 2 1/2 years ago. Her parents, a young sister Rea, and her husband all passed away in that home.
She was a graduate of Spring City High School with the class of 1936. Mrs Shantz was a member of Zion Lutheran Church for almost 80 years and had taught Sunday School for over 30 years.
A devoted employee of the Spring City Foundry for 38 years she was their bookkeeper when everything was done without the use of computers.
In addtion to her parents, young sister and husband she was predeceased by her siser Pearl M (Haldeman) Bennett. Surviving are Pearl's children, a nephew, Craig Haldeman Bennett, Spring City, a niece, Janet Bennett Kerlin, Souderton, a brother-in-law, Robert J Bennett, Spring City and a great niece, Severine R Bennett, Columbus, NC.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, Bridge & Church Sts., Spring City with the Reverend Dr. Kenneth S Nelson, retired pastor of Zion Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be beside her beloved husband in the Vincent Mennonite Cemetery, Spring City.
