Freda E. (Schindler) Phillips, age 97 wifeof the late Lewis U. Phillipis of Spring City, died on Thursday evening in her home. She was born in Philadelphia a daughter to the late Robert B. and Freda C. (Heller) Schindler. Mrs. Phillips resided most of her life in Spring City, she was a 1931 graduate of the former Spring City High School and a 1935 graduate of Ursinus College. Mrs. Phillips was an accomplished vocalist; she sang with the Pottstown Band, a wedding soloist for many couples in the area, Soloist for the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Pottstown for over seven years; and taught Vocal Music at the former Lambs Music House in Pottstown. Mrs. Phillips was a memberof Zion Lutheran Churh where she was past choir director and a member of the choir. She was also a founding member and past Board membero fthe Pottsown Symphony and Ochestra, she served as past president of the Home and School League of Spring City and also owned and operated with her husband the Phillips Fashions in East Coventry for over ten years. She is survived by a son: Lewis R. Phillips of Spring City and three grandchildren: Laura Marie Hilehoffer,Daniel James Phillips and Kristen Joy Phillips and a great grandson: George Lincoln Hilehoffer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Tuesday January 4 , 2011 at 11:00am at the Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, Bridge and Church Streets Spring City. The Rev. Paul Townsend will officiate. Burial to follow in the Fernwood Cemetery. Her viewing will be held on Monday evening at the funeral home from 7-8:30pm.
