Elizabeth G. Batten, 85, Limerick
Elizabeth (Betsy) Godshall Batten, wife of C. Roger Batten, Limerick, passed away at home on August 28, 2017.
Born in Pottstown, January 25, 1932, she lived most of her life in Spring City. She graduated from Spring City High School in 1949, and The Presbyterian School of Nursing, Philadelphia in 1952.
She attended Zion Lutheran Church, Spring City, and was active in choir, altar guild, Sunday School, women's group, lay readers, and Church Council. Betsy also attended St. James Lutheran Church in Limerick for a time in the 1990's.
In the community, Betsy was active in Meals on Wheels, Women's Library Club—Garden Division, Red Cross blood drives, substitute nurse for Spring Ford School District, Senior Fellowship, and Chester County Board of Elections.
In addition to her husband of 64 years, she is survived by a brother, Pastor C. David Godshall (Barbara Groller Godshall) of Allentown. Children Susan E. Batten, Debra A. Batten, H. Diane Hilborn (Ray), Stephen Batten, Sr. (Cindy Bauer), and Stacey L. Silvestri (Michael) Grandchildren Amy Golie (Chris), Megan Shaw, Nathan Frye (Mel), Amanda Frye, Beth Hilborn, Stephen Batten, Jr., (Kim), Jeremy Batten, and Ashley Bazzley (Ben). Great grandchildren, Evan Golie, Sarah Golie, Charles Mungin, Stephen Batten III, Brynlee Batten, and Ava Bazzley. Sister-in-laws Sandra Nance of Sioux Falls, ND, Beverly Kandrick (Richard) of Winchester VA; and many nieces and nephews.
Betsy is the daughter of the late Luther V. and Elizabeth (Clouden) Godshall.
Friends and family are invited to her funeral service at Zion Lutheran Church, Bonnie Brae Road, Spring City, PA on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM with The Rev. Paul Townsend officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be held privately .
