William A. Bender, IV, 65, Spring City
William A. Bender, IV, 65, widower of the late Susan Keck, died Thursday, February, 23, 2017 at Phoenixville Hospital.
He was born to the late William A. Bender III and graduated from Marple-Newtown High School in 1970.
Mr. Bender was a construction worker and tractor trailer driver who most recently drove a tri-axle dump truck for Horgan Brothers. He had previously been foreman and superintendent of the Providence Forge condominium community in Royersford and was a skilled carpenter. He was a member of NorthPointe Community Church, where he had served as an usher. He also belonged to the Spring City Legion Post 602, Liberty Fire Company, Royersford VFW, and Friendship Fire Company.
As a young man, Mr. Bender belonged to Van Club. His CB radio handle was "Dream Weaver." He loved to ride his Harley-Davidson Sportster until hip surgery made it difficult. He was a largemouth bass fisherman and an avid fan of competitive fishing. He was also a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan who is believed to have come to terms with the fact that he would never see them win a Super Bowl.
Mr. Bender is survived by his two sons, William A. Bender V, of Philadelphia, and Andrew Bender, of Spring City.
Friends are invited to attend his funeral service at The Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, 135 Bridge St., Spring City, PA 19475 on Saturday, March 18, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial will be held privately.
