Irvin John Schaeffer, 80, Parkerford Irvin "John" H. Schaeffer, 80, of Parkerford, husband of Alice (Parke) Schaeffer, passed away peacefully in his home on July 1. Born in Parkerford, he was the son of the late Irvin "Gus" and Bertha "Mae" Schaeffer. John was a B.F. Goodrich employee for 30 years. He was also a life member of the Pottstown Quoit Club, and a member of the American-Italian Bocce Club of Royersford. Surviving with his wife of 60 years are his 5 children, Shirl, wife of Dennis Flasher of Spring City, Terry Schaeffer of Parkerford, Don Schaeffer, husband of Coleen, of Pottstown, Rick Schaeffer, husband of Barbara of Parkerford, and Kim Schaeffer, spouse of Michele Spanger of Pottstown. He also has 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his sisters, Bonnie Molitoriz and Jean Platt. John was known as "Uncle John" to many people. He enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, fishing, and working on small engines. He will be greatly missed! Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral service on Monday, July 6, at 11:00 AM at the Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home 135 Bridge St., Spring City, PA 19475. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday Evening from 6:00 – 7:30 PM, and again on Monday from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
