Obituary of Robert Oscar Mason

Robert “Bob” O. Mason, 80, of Phoenixville, PA, passed away on December 14, 2024, at Paoli Hospital. Born in Pottstown, PA, in 1944, he was the son of the late Robert William and Sara Emma (Porter) Mason. A long-time resident of the Phoenixville area, Bob was deeply connected to the community that he loved and served throughout his life.

Bob was a graduate of Owen J. Roberts High School. He was an accomplished artist, best known for painting a mural at his high school. In addition to his artistic talents, Bob had a deep commitment to helping others. For 19 years, he worked as an operating room technician at Phoenixville Hospital.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Bob served in Germany during his time in the military. Bob's greatest joy in life was his family, and especially his beloved husband, Lauren "Larry" Sechrist. The two were married for 10 years and together for 47, creating a fulfilling life. A passionate gardener, Bob found peace and fulfillment in tending to his plants, creating beautiful spaces that reflected his love of nature. 

Bob is survived by his husband, Larry Sechrist, and is predeceased by his parents, Robert William and Sara Emma (Porter) Mason.

A visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at 11:00 AM at R. Strunk Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460. A celebration of life will follow at 12:00 PM. Burial will take place at Brownback's United Church of Christ Cemetery, 640 Ridge Road, Spring City, PA 19475.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Best Friends Animal Society (Best Friends) in Bob’s memory.
