Obituary of David C. Cornelison

David Charles Cornelison, of Pottstown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the age of 88. Born on April 28, 1936 in Bloomsburg, PA to Chester and Helen (Young) Cornelison. David was raised in the Bloomsburg area and moved to Oaks, PA in 1962 where he spent most of his life before settling in Pottstown.
A proud veteran, David served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He built a career at Synthane Taylor as a tube winder before his employment at Superior Tube working in supply and manufacturing. After retirement, he enjoyed staying active and social by delivering auto parts. He was known for his love of sports, cheering passionately for the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He also enjoyed attending races and watching NASCAR. Gardening and tending to flowers were a cherished hobby of his, bringing beauty and color to his surroundings.
David leaves behind his beloved wife of 64 years, Sandra Marie (Graham) Cornelison, and his sons: David (Brenda) and Jason (Deborah), and his daughter Laray (Joe). He is also survived by his son-in-law, Douglas Plummer (the late Tracy); his sister-in-law, Patricia Whitenight; his grandchildren: Melissa Shanaman (B.J.), Doug Jr., David Jr. (Gretchen), Steph, Lindsey Markey (the late Dan Martin), Frank Markey (Christa), and Kelsey Caracappa (Alex); and his 10 great-grandchildren: Emma, Nicholas, Madison, Shane, Royce, Ryker, Lennon, Aiden, Aria and Luca.
He is predeceased by his parents, Chester and Helen (Young) Cornelison; his daughter, Tracy Plummer; and his brothers, Richard and Larry Cornelison.
David’s gentleness, kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will forever be remembered. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Visitation with friends and family will be held on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at R. Strunk Funeral Home, 400 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460, followed by a Memorial Service at 11:15 AM. Burial will take place at Limerick Garden of Memories.
