Obituary of Jane Martin
Jane Ann (Osgood) Martin, 57, of Spring City, Pa., passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
Jane was born in Springfield, Mass., to Nancy (Burns) and Richard Osgood on Oct. 21, 1966. She went to high school at Cathedral High School and graduated in 1984. She was passionate about listening to and sharing music (Grateful Dead, Tori Amos, The Beatles, Traffic, Bob Dylan, Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, Genesis, Joni Mitchell, and if we keep going …), writing poetry, observing the butterflies and birds she encountered, planting flowers in her yard and finding wild ones beyond it.
Above all, Jane found the most joy in being a mother, and she never overplayed her part. She was patient in letting her children’s lives proceed by their own design, devoted in sharing their passions, a reflection of bliss in the ups, an empathetic ear in the downs. She was and is forever along for the ride.
Jane’s spirit will carry on through her husband Jerry Martin, her children Cassidy (Tyler Pecyna) Martin and Cody Martin, and her animal friends Barlow, Meatball, Deakin, Isley, Charlie and the many, many more she cared for. Jane also graciously gave herself to Gift of Life. She is preceded in death by one of her many muses, Jerry Garcia.
Jane found art in life and life in art and so she shared that inspiration nearly every day. One of the final writings she had prepared to share feels all too appropriate for the road ahead:
“This is my wish for you: Comfort on difficult days, smiles when sadness intrudes, rainbows to follow the clouds, laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets to warm your heart, hugs when spirits sag, beauty for your eyes to see, friendships to brighten your being, faith so that you can believe, confidence for when you doubt, courage to know yourself, patience to accept the truth, Love to complete your life.”
—Ralph Waldo Emerson
Jane’s loved ones will honor her memory with a ceremony in the coming weeks. Donations can be made through the family’s InKind page.
