Obituary of Joyce A. Sim
Joyce A. Sim, 80, Pottstown
Joyce Sim, 80, passed away Monday March 18, 2024 at home.
She was one of three daughters born June 6, 1943, in Norristown to the late Joseph and the late Dora (Cosier) DiSanto. Joyce spent her growing up years in the Norristown area where she graduated from Bishop Kenrick High School. She moved to the Royersford and Sanatoga areas and had considered this area her home since 1988. Joyce had many friends and enjoyed spending time with them working at Cincy’s Bar and Genuardi’s. In her spare time, she enjoyed dancing and listening to 1950’s music. She loved to tell the story of when she met Chubby Checker while working at the deli at Genuardi’s and memories of her 1957 Chevrolet convertible. She was an avid lottery player. She enjoyed caring for her garden and watching the birds come to her window. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed making meals for her family. Her passion for taking care of her cousins as babies, her devotion to children especially to her Grandson Blake Sim and being a great grandmother gave her the most joy.
Joyce, affectionately known as “GiGi Mom '' will be greatly missed. She leaves behind her two children: James J. Sim and Jennifer Hixson (wife of Perry) ; grandson: Blake Sim (husband to Amelia) and two great grandchildren: Aaron and Hannah; her sister: Elaine Garfield ; her nephew: Charles Garfield. She is preceded in death by her sister: Joan Pizza and brother in law: Anthony (Tony) Pizza and niece: Amy Pizza.
