Obituary of Elfriede G. Shomper-Lederer

Elfriede G. Shomper-Lederer, 78, Pottstown Elfriede Shomper-Lederer, 78, passed away Thursday May 11, 2023 in the Shannondell Meadows after a long battle with Lymphoma.

One of three children, Elfriede was born August 7, 1944 in Poland to the late Joseph Glass and the late Marie (DÖRN) Glass-Johnson. She graduated with the class of 1962 from Owen J. Roberts High School. Full of energy, grace and charm, Elfriede was an OJR Cheerleader. Her face always had a smile, and her words full of encouragement. Elfriede lost her first husband, Fred Shomper in 1996, with whom she had a son and two beautiful daughters. She was fortunate to find love again and married Paul Lederer, who she was able to spend 25 beautiful years with.

Elfriede enjoyed life and giving of her time. She spent countless hours at Parkerford Baptist Church where she participated in the Choir, Flower, Hospitality Committees & Diaconate Board. She loved working as a Dental chair side assistant for Dr. Rhorbach and Dr. Reider. She was also well known as the greeter at the local Cattermole Klotzbach Funeral Home and The Shalkop, Grace & Strunk funeral homes for 10 years.

She enjoyed the beauty of nature, flowers and animals. She also enjoyed spending time with friends, being in the mountains, traveling & especially the cruises she and Paul took. Her family took a high priority, and she enjoyed every minute of the wonderful life she shared with them.

In addition to her husband, Paul Lederer, Elfriede is survived by her brother: Wolfgang (Wife, Cora) Glass son: Paul (wife, Amber) Shomper; daughters: Anita (husband, Michael) Alderfer, Lynn (husband, Denny) Weaver; stepdaughter: Kristi Troutman; one grandson, Chase; four step grandchildren: Jesse, Ryan, Derek and Kalina, one great granddaughter, Caroline and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death is her husband Fred Shomper, sister: Hertha Ronich and stepson: William Lederer.

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 17, at the R. Strunk Funeral Home from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM. R. Strunk Funeral home is located at 400 Main Street, Phoenixville, PA 19460. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday May 18 in Parkerford Baptist Church, 92 Baptist Church Road, Parkerford with Rev. Robert Davalt officiating. For GPS use Spring City. Burial will be immediately following the service on Thursday, May 18 in the Parkerford Baptist Church Cemetery.
