Obituary of Rita M. Kappenstein

Rita Kappenstein, 83,  wife of the late Ernest Kappenstein, devoted mother and grandmother, passed away Sunday March 27, 2022 in the Pottstown Hospital - Tower Health.

She was born November 19, 1938 in Stowe to the late Mario and the late Mary Tavares. The last of four sisters, Rita spent her entire life in the West Pottsgrove area.  She graduated from West Pottsgrove High School and was employed for over forty years at Rixie Paper Company until retirement.  Rita was an avid Philadelphia sports fan where she cheered on her beloved Eagles and Phillies.  She didn’t miss a Bingo game and enjoyed travelling to the solitude of the beach.  She was active in the St. Columbkill Senior Center where she had many good friends.

Rita leaves behind her adoring daughters, Lynn, (wife of Dave Shoap) and Lori, (wife of Frank Schweitzer) Three Grandchildren:  Amber, Ashley and Lindsay and one great grandson: James David.  She is predeceased by her daughter:  Roxanne Montgomery and four sisters:  Angie, Priscilla, Rose and Dolores.

A Memorial Prayer Service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday March 31 in Shalkop, Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, 135 Bridge Street, Spring City,

Visitation at the Funeral Home will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Thursday, March 31 prior to the service at Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home.
