Obituary of Harley Jacobsen

Please share a memory of Harley to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

J. Harley Jacobsen, 40, adoring husband and loving father lost a fierce four and a half year battle against ALS on Sunday January 30, 2022.

Born May 4, 1981 in East Stroudsburg, Harley was the son of Sharon L. Gallagher and the late John "Jake" Jacobsen.

Harley met his lifelong love Maureen in elementary school when they were both just ten-years-old. Throughout the years the two dated, eventually exchanging their Pocono Mountains roots for city life when they moved to Philadelphia where Harley graduated from DeVry University. Harley worked in shipping logistics for Venezia Bulk Transport Inc, Limerick and CTDI in West Chester.

In 2012 the couple married and moved to Chester County, Pennsylvania where they welcomed their greatest gifts, two adoring daughters. This year is their 10th wedding anniversary.

An extreme outdoor athlete excelling in cycling and snowboarding, Harley seemed to have adventure in his blood. He loved exploring nature on a mountain bike and competitively racing as well. Harley was a great friend, full of fun and humor, and many will miss him and the memorable adventures they shared.

Harley also possessed a thirst for knowledge– he was a self-taught guitar player and an avid reader who renovated the family's home almost single handedly.

Harley leaves behind his devoted wife Maureen Jacobsen and his loving daughters Grace (7) and Ella (4). Harley is also survived by his mother, Sharon Jacobsen; sister, Amber Jacobsen; nephews, Hayden and Dylan Jacobsen; mother and father-in-law, John and Teresa Campa; brother and sister-in-law, Michael Campa, his wife Sara, sister-in-law, Maryann Gaitan; and nephews, Ben Campa, Gianni Gaitan, and Nicholas Gaitan.

Visitation with friends and family is scheduled for this Saturday, February 5 between 9:00AM to 11:00AM at Grace Assembly of God 1271 W. Bridge Street, Spring City. Following, a Memorial Service will be held starting at 11:00AM with Rev. Chris Czuchra officiating.
