Obituary of Gerald Roland Hilborn
Gerald "Rollie" Roland Hilborn, 78, Phoenixville
Gerald Hilborn, 78, loving husband of Elaine (Moore) Hilborn passed away Friday evening December 11, 2020 surrounded by his family.
Born September 11, 1942 in Phoenixville to the late Gerald and the late Helen (Shenafield) Hilborn. Affectionately known as “Rollie”. Rollie was a 1960 Spring-Ford High School graduate. His love for learning lead him to Drexel University where he earned a degree in Chemistry. Rollie and Elaine were married and had their son, Matthew. He was a loving father and provider.
Rollie was loved and respected in his industry and in the community. He gave many hours as a member of the Masonic Lodge and Tall Cedars including being the past Master of the Lodge. He played the clarinet and saxophone and enjoyed performing with the Rajah Shrine Band and Pottsgrove Community Band. He is a long-time member of the First United Church of Christ, Spring City where he sang in the choir, lead the bell choir and served as the President of the Consistory.
After retirement Rollie and Elaine enjoyed traveling. He enjoyed trips to his hunting camp and found a love for going fast as an amateur car racer. He was also a model train enthusiast throughout his life. Even during retirement, he kept his mind sharp by consulting in the pharmaceutical industry.
Rollie will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 52 years, Elaine Moore Hilborn; son, Matthew Hilborn; sister, Patricia Moore and grandson, Andrew Hilborn.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday December 19, 2020 in First United Church of Christ, Spring City, 145 Chestnut Street, Spring City with Rev. Erick Kern officiating.
Visitation at the church will be from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM Saturday, December 19, 2020. Prior to the service, there will be a Masonic ceremony at 10:45 AM. A private family interment of ashes will take place immediately following the service at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery, Spring City, PA 19475.
