Obituary of Judith Kay Detwiler

Please share a memory of Judith to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Judith Kay (Brown) Detwiler as born on November 18, 1954 in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to the late Barbara (Clark) Brown and the late Edmond Brown. While in high school, Judy met Dave Detwiler and married the love of her life on April 29, 1972. In addition to her husband, Judy is survived by daughter Traci and her husband Jeremy Delancey and their three children Alyssa, Austin, and Amber of Summerville, SC; son Jeremy and his wife Jennifer and their children Sadie and Bryson of Pittsburgh, PA; and daughter Stefanie and her husband Ryan Wenger and their sons Blake and Gavin of Carlisle, PA. As an only child, Judy felt blessed to marry into a large family who lovingly embraced her as one of their own. They include Freeman Detwiler, George and Donna Detwiler, Ruth and John Seilhamer, Charles and Karen Detwiler, Bill and Maxine Detwiler, Steve Detwiler and Juanita, Terry Detwiler, and Sara Detwiler (widow of Michael). There are dozens of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grand nephews of whom Judy was always so proud. In addition to her parents, Judy was predeceased by an infant son, David Scott; her beloved grandparents, George and Betsy Meitzler; her mother-in-law, Gladys; a sister-in-law, Donna Detwiler; and her brother-in-law, Michael Detwiler. During her life, Judy served as a Sunday School teacher, Brownie Girl Scout leader, secretary at Spring-Ford Middle School and Oaks Elementary School, and as a secretary at ARRO where she made lifelong friendships that she treasured. Judy would want all to know that she lived the most perfect life full of love, passion, friendship, and sheer joy. Being married to Dave was the best gift god granted. Sharing their wonderful family was an added blessing. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 10 at The Church of the Nazarene, 445 Washington Street, Royersford, PA, with visitation at the church from 12:00 to 1:00 PM. In Judy's honor, donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis TN 38105 or CHOP; 3401 Civic center Blvd. Philadelphia PA 19104 or the charity of your choice. Judy's fight with cancer is over, but her hope is that the light she shone while on Earth will live on in everyone she leaves behind. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to The Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home. On line tributes may be made at sgsfuneralhome.com.
