Horace D Wilson, beloved husband of Anna (Yeager) Wilson age 92, of Kimberton died Sunday, October 4, 2009 in the Phoenixville Hospital, Phoenixville.
Mr. Wilson was born August 21, 1917 in Philadelphia, PA the son of the late S. Heber and the late Anita (Dinkel) Wilson.
Attended Hillside School grade first through sixth and then the Chester Springs School and graduated from West Chester High School in 1936. He resided in West Pikeland Township until he was called to serve in the United States Army in 1941. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Pacific Islands until 1945. In 198 he married Anna Yeager and lived in Kimberton on their farm. He was a retired Dairy Farmer, a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Lionville where he served as the cemetery sexton for many years; he also was the cemetery sexton at St. Matthews UCC Cemetery in Chester Springs for many years.
He was a 62 year member of the Independent Order of ODD Fellows, Paoli #290 and the Kimberton Grange #1304 for 63 years, the Kimberton Fire Company where he and his wife served as agriculture chairpersons of the Kimberton fair for several years.
Horace and Anna were avid stamp and antique collectors and belonged to various stamp clubs and historical societies.
He is survived by a brother: Everett Wilson husband of the late Mary Jane Wilson
Sister in laws: Ann Yeager and Ruth Yeager of Kimberton and many nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by brother in laws: Harry F. Yeager and John F. Yeager
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Thursday 11:00am at the St. Paul's United Church of Christ 101 Worthington Road Exton. Burial to follow in the East Vincent United Church Cemetery, Spring City. His viewing will be held in church on Thursday morning from 10-11am. Memorial gifts may be made in his memory to the St. Paul's United Church of Christ 101 Worthington Road Exton PA 19341
