Richard E. Yocum, 81, husband of Carole (Faust) Yocum died Sunday at The Masonic Village of Elizabethtown..
He was born in Pottstown to the late Laurence and Dorothy (Yocom) Yocum
A graduate of the former North Coventry High School, class of 1952, he worked in maintenance for The BF Goodrich Company for 18 years, and then for the Spring Ford School District until his retirement. Richard lived most of his life in Spring City . He was a treasurer for the Spring City United Methodist Church, and was a member of Phoenix Lodge, #75, F&AM Phoenixville, and served master in 1969. His masonic affiliations included, Phoenix Lodge #75, Master Mason, 1969; Royal Arch Chapter #198, Deputy 1993-2002, Most Excellent Grand Treasurer RAC, 2002-2011; Palestine Council #8, Thrice Illustrous Master 1978-1979; Jerusalem Commandery #15, Eminent Commander 1978; Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Spring City Forest #34; Red Cross of Constantine, Reading, PA and Mark Lodge, Reading, PA.
In addition to his wife of 60 years, Carole, he is survived by his children, Cynthia Y, wife of Russell DePietropaolo, and Jim Yocum of Spring City, 4 grandchildren, Michael DePietropaolo, husband of Sarah, Shelly Gist wife of Chase, Christopher Yocum, and Allison wife of Mark Hiblong, and three great grandchildren, Remy DePietropaolo, Jordyn Gist, and Miles Gist. He was predeceased by his son, Richard. W. husband of Linda Yocum, Arkansas.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend his funeral services on Friday, June 3, at 11:00 AM at Shalkop Grace & Strunk Funeral Home, 135 Bridge St. Spring City, PA 19475, with The Rev. Dr. Philip McLeod officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:45 AM with a masonic service at 10:45. Burial will be held privately.
