Obituary of Merle D. Bainbridge, Jr.

Merle D Bainbridge Jr., 57, Drexel Hill

Merle D. Bainbridge, Jr., loving husband of Mary (Leonard) Bainbridge, of Drexel Hill, PA  died on Thursday in the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia surrounded by his loving family.

Merle was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA a son to Merle D. Bainbrdge Sr and Alberta (Forlenza) Bainbridge.

He was raised in Royersford and resided most of his life in Royersford and Delaware County, PA. Merle was a 1978 graduate of Spring Ford High School where he played football and tennis. He was a 1983 graduate of Kutztown University with a degree in Education.

He was an avid sports fan of all Philadelphia teams, especially the Phillies, as baseball was his favorite. Merle enjoyed cooking and loved to teach his children how to cook. He enjoyed grilling at the shore, playing poker, golfing and music.

In addition to his wife and parents he is survived by three children: Ian Bainbridge of Philadelphia, Emily Bainbridge of Clifton Heights, Matthew Bainbridge of Drexel Hill, and brother Mark Bainbridge (Kim) of Souderton. Merle is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins as well as brothers and sisters in law.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral mass on Thursday at 10:30am at the St. Dorothy's Parish 4910 Township Line Rd. Drexel Hill, PA 19026, Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 7-9pm in the Ruffenach Funeral Home, 4900 Township Line Rd Drexel Hill and on Thursday from 9-10:15 am in the church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Merle’s memory for the education of his son, Matthew. Please send c/o Mary Bainbridge 346 E.
